The evening of Friday 14th September 2007

Open House and Maggie’s have once again joined forces to run a London campaign to raise funds for new Maggies Cancer Caring Centres.

Maggie’s and Open House London Night Hike is a 17-mile moonlit walk through the Capital’s streets and gives access into some of the city’s most prestigious buildings while raising money for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres in the UK*. En route hikers have exclusive access to some of the Capital’s most spectacular architectural jewels including The Guildhall, City Hall, The Royal Geographic Society and Somerset House.  Night Hikers will also enjoy an exclusive overnight flight on the British Airway’s London Eye – the only occasion this year that the London Eye will open at night.

Maggie’s Centres provide psychological and emotional support and practical help to people affected by cancer, and their families and friends.  Maggie’s currently has five centres - each one is designed by a leading architect, and is based next to a major NHS cancer unit or centre.

* funds raised will also support Open House, in its aim to raise awareness of London’s exellent built environment and its architectural education programmes.

Registration fee for adults is £25 per person and every hiker is asked to raise £250. Children (under 16 years of age) can be registered for only £15 per person and we ask them to try to raise a target of £100 each. A participating adult must accompany all children.

It is estimated that over 150,000 Londoners are living with cancer in the Capital and with the support of people like you, Maggie's will soon be able to provide a support and information centre for them and their friends and family who care about them.

If you would like the chance to join the hike and view some of London's hidden building treasures by night and to raise the money to build a Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre, call 020 7385 1059, or email londonnighthike@maggiescentres.org for a free information pack, or click here to download a pdf
