Bell Phillips Housing in Greenwich

Hear Tim Bell and Jay Morton from Bell Phillips Architects discuss their striking design of council homes for the elderly in Greenwich.

Using a repeated bungalow typology across the eight (former garage) sites, this film explores the design of these purpose-built homes and the importance of creating quality homes for an ageing population. The butterfly dormers that are clad in VMZINC, let light and natural ventilation into the space, as well as allowing these bungalows that are designed with accessibility in mind, to sit comfortably in their contexts of 2 story terraced houses. The history of VMZINC being used as a building envelope spans back almost 200 years, from the roofs of Paris to the present day, here in Greenwich.
